I had seen trees being uplit in a few places and thought it looked amazing and magical so when one of our friends put the idea of Carols into our head the event and more ideas started flowing!
Diaspora, an Irish folk band in Somerset, have been described as a long established “feel good” Irish Band, which celebrates the music and traditions of the historic Irish Diaspora and entertains with a wide and varied mix of Folk and other influences. Nearly 20 years on and still going strong, they have played across a good part of the British Isles at one time or another and toured in France and Ireland having played large and small gigs; from Twickenham at the Heineken Cup finals in 1999 to country pubs, universities Student Unions to folk clubs, arts centres and festivals from Green fest to Glastonbury! Pentax Spotmatic 35mm
As some of you might know I have a bit of a collection of vintage cameras in the studio. The majority of them will work still with the right films (a couple 35mm, 110 and 120) but right now I’m loving this mint 35mm beauty that I bought off a friend. Continue reading »
HEADLINE: Wedding Photography: 21% of Brides said they’d spend MORE if doing it again! SHOCK!!
Every wedding has it’s own unique moments, it’s own story and way it will be remembered; the bride’s beautiful dress, the moving speeches, the ushers forgetting the buttonholes, Bestman forgetting the rings, the bride getting dropped during her first dance, the Bestman having a flat tyre, the vicar getting the brides name wrong in the ceremony. These all make your wedding special and personal to you (and ones we’ve experienced first hand!). But if you’re already married, would you change anything from your day?
We have recently added Photograph Restoration to our list of services. We haven’t really shouted about it or advertised it but have done a few in the last couple of months in-between our other core work. Feel free to show anyone you know with old photographs who’d like a quote to have them restored and re-printed/enlarged.
Happy New Year to all of you!!
We’ve had a great 2013 with some fabulous weddings, some great and memorable photoshoots and we’ve met some truly awesome people and made a lot of new friends for life! We treasure the custom of all of you and hope you love what we have done for you. Continue reading »
Deposits for Portrait Shoots
We really didn’t want to do this but we are having to start taking £10 non-returnable deposits for portrait shoots from the start of the New Year. Similarly, any Gift Vouchers that are booked need to be paid for in full before they are made up.
This is simply because over the last few months we’ve had shoots being cancelled last minute, people not showing up (not even calling to cancel) and people who have asked for Gift Vouchers not picking them up from the studio after we have called and emailed to say they are ready.
We value each and every customer and want to make sure you feel valued, having the best experience possible. We think this is one of the best ways to help provide this.
Day Trip to Lapland
As you may know Emily and I took a trip to Lapland courtesy of Bath Tourism & Canterbury Travels. We couldn’t take Matilda as we didn’t have a passport for her and according to the passport office we couldn’t get her first passport in less than 7 days. As it also happens the Travel Company don’t provide snowsuits for under 2’s anyhow so she would have froze!
Our day started at 4am, up showered and dressed with the all important coffee in hand ready to meet our friends, Ben and Katie, for a 6am Check-in at Bristol Airport. With our e-tickets and passports in hand it all got very real when we sailed through check-in (I really like flying with only hand luggage!) and the excitement of going to a winter wonderland to see Santa in his actual home in Lapland really started to kick in! We went through the ever necessary security checks – which really is a more of a rigmarole for photographers than the average traveler, having to take out the cameras, lenses and iPad (on which I’m writing this blog on the flight home with everyone else on the plane asleep). Even with all the kit out the bag I always seem to set the scanners off 9 times out of 10 (I will never forget my public strip search in Dubai International when we flew back from a wedding in Malaysia…all shades of dignity left, embarrassed on the floor).
