Destination Wedding | Koh Samui, Thailand

Cynthia & Jason | After The Ceremony-56.1

Destination Wedding | Koh Samui, Thailand

2014 was hectic for weddings! We had weddings all around the UK, into Europe and also setup a connection with a lovely wedding planner for Destination Weddings in Corfu. We also had a super last minute booking to capture Cynthia & Jason’s UK wedding at the end of July and then a week later I flew out to the island of Koh Samui, Thailand for their beach destination Wedding. I left on the Sunday and was away for 5 days, 2½ of which was travelling. I had to be back in the UK ready for another wedding the following Saturday.

Happy 30th Birthday to the Mac

Happy 30th Birthday to the Mac  !

Waaaaaaay back in 1948 George Orwell was just about finishing a dystopian novel about life in 1984. Thankfully, it was a bit different to what actually happened in 1984 (GREAT book though!).

Amongst the many good and dreadful things that did happened in 1984, Apple   launched the Macintosh Computer on 24th January in the USA and in no shadow of a doubt not only changed the computing world but changed the way millions of people do things in their everyday lives.  Even for the most die-hard Windows or Linux user you can’t help but admire what Steve Jobs & Co. did and what Apple continue to do.

Day Trip to Lapland

Day Trip to Lapland

Emily, Lapland Finland. Bath Christmas Market Photography. Monarch Airways Charter flight

As you may know Emily and I took a trip to Lapland courtesy of Bath Tourism & Canterbury Travels. We couldn’t take Matilda as we didn’t have a passport for her and according to the passport office we couldn’t get her first passport in less than 7 days. As it also happens the Travel Company don’t provide snowsuits for under 2’s anyhow so she would have froze!

Our day started at 4am, up showered and dressed with the all important coffee in hand ready to meet our friends, Ben and Katie, for a 6am Check-in at Bristol Airport. With our e-tickets and passports in hand it all got very real when we sailed through check-in (I really like flying with only hand luggage!) and the excitement of going to a winter wonderland to see Santa in his actual home in Lapland really started to kick in! We went through the ever necessary security checks – which really is a more of a rigmarole for photographers than the average traveler, having to take out the cameras, lenses and iPad (on which I’m writing this blog on the flight home with everyone else on the plane asleep). Even with all the kit out the bag I always seem to set the scanners off 9 times out of 10 (I will never forget my public strip search in Dubai International when we flew back from a wedding in Malaysia…all shades of dignity left, embarrassed on the floor).
