OK so 5 years might not sound a lot but in this current period of economic uncertainty a few people doubted that it would be sustainable. I’m very proud that we have not only been able to make this company work but we have grown in our photographic skills, created a style and identity that people like and recommend to others, which in turn has lead to an increased customer base and extended market reach. Thankyou all for the support!

Sunset over The Pyramid Stage, Glastonbury Festival 2014, Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset.

My first Glastonbury Festival! I didn’t know what to expect to be honest. I heard it was awesome and there was so much to see! But wasn’t expecting it to be the scale it is! So much to see that even if the festival didn’t change in the course of 5 years you’d still not experience everything I doubt! Also nobody tells you that you go to Glastonbury Festival to get fit! I walked around 15miles on one day according to the Strava app on my phone! Continue reading »

Easter Walk on Shapwick Heath National Nature Reserve

This Easter Sunday, despite the weather being a bit grey, we took the opportunity to take a walk out on Shapwick Heath along the Neolithic Sweet Track, the oldest man-made routeway in Britain. The Sweet Track is an ancient causeway in the Somerset Levels in England. It was built in either 3807 or 3806 BC. If you Google 51°9’57” N 2°49’26″W these are the coordinates from the built in GPS on our Canon 6D (such a cool feature!) from the first photograph I uploaded.

Pre-Wedding Shoot with Andi and Tom at Burrow Mump (Somerset Levels Flooding).

As-well as consultations/meetings for your wedding photography with your formal/group photographs all noted in advance, we also like to do a pre-wedding shoot where possible. We see this as a vital part of the preparations for your wedding. Getting to know all our brides and grooms before the weddings means we’re not strangers to you on your day. This really does reflect in your photographs as you’ll both be more relaxed around us. It’s also a chance for you to see how we will be on your day. After the shoot a selection of the images are edited and put up on your weddings private gallery on our website where you can choose a complimentary 12″x8″ print.

Wedding Photography: 21% of Brides said they’d spend MORE if doing it again!

HEADLINE: Wedding Photography: 21% of Brides said they’d spend MORE if doing it again! SHOCK!!

Well, not so much of a shock to us to be fair….but it’s now it has been brought to more Bride-to-be’s attention! Past Bride’s were asked what they’d spend more if they could do their wedding again. what would you do differently spend more wedding photographer new york bride photogrpahy by Justin and Emily Krause Bridgwater burnham taunton weston somerset deveon cornwall bristol london crop

Every wedding has it’s own unique moments, it’s own  story and way it will be remembered; the bride’s beautiful dress, the moving speeches, the ushers forgetting the buttonholes, Bestman forgetting the rings, the bride getting dropped during her first dance, the Bestman having a flat tyre, the vicar getting the brides name wrong in the ceremony. These all make your wedding special and personal to you (and ones we’ve experienced first hand!). But if you’re already married, would you change anything from your day?

Day Trip to Lapland

Day Trip to Lapland

Emily, Lapland Finland. Bath Christmas Market Photography. Monarch Airways Charter flight

As you may know Emily and I took a trip to Lapland courtesy of Bath Tourism & Canterbury Travels. We couldn’t take Matilda as we didn’t have a passport for her and according to the passport office we couldn’t get her first passport in less than 7 days. As it also happens the Travel Company don’t provide snowsuits for under 2’s anyhow so she would have froze!

Our day started at 4am, up showered and dressed with the all important coffee in hand ready to meet our friends, Ben and Katie, for a 6am Check-in at Bristol Airport. With our e-tickets and passports in hand it all got very real when we sailed through check-in (I really like flying with only hand luggage!) and the excitement of going to a winter wonderland to see Santa in his actual home in Lapland really started to kick in! We went through the ever necessary security checks – which really is a more of a rigmarole for photographers than the average traveler, having to take out the cameras, lenses and iPad (on which I’m writing this blog on the flight home with everyone else on the plane asleep). Even with all the kit out the bag I always seem to set the scanners off 9 times out of 10 (I will never forget my public strip search in Dubai International when we flew back from a wedding in Malaysia…all shades of dignity left, embarrassed on the floor).

Camera equipment for the Lapland Trip

We had to decide what camera equipment for the Lapland Trip we needed. Obviously a bit of a photographic opportunity which couldn’t be wasted but what should we take that will cope with the temperatures over there?
